Photography: Hokkaido Morning

A 4 am start on a -10C morning. Driving from Furano back to Chitose Airport I noticed this hut off in the distance not far from the main road. I stopped the car, waited for the light to do its thing and then grabbed a few shots. The image stabilisation on the Lumix G9 is insane and I’m pretty sure without it I wouldn’t have had the energy to pull out the tripod and set up in such cold weather.

Cycled since I was a kid, moved to Japan in 2001, bought my first 'serious' camera in 2005. Spent the later half of the 1990s travelling in Australia, Hong Kong, India, Nepal, Japan, and the Philippines and wish I'd photographed a lot more back then.
