If I Were Travelling the World

Recently this simple question came into a conversation: If you were travelling the world by car what possessions would you take with you?

Without hesitation I replied that I’d take my iPad Pro (10.5 inch) with Apple Pencil and mouse and one camera with one lens (plus necessary accessories).

After a few more seconds of thought I added merino wool and technical outdoor clothing and shoes, a good pair or earphones, my Kindle, and ear plugs. Not once did I think of my bicycles. That surprised me (ignoring the fact that I’d be travelling by car).

And then it dawned on me; why the hell aren’t I living like this now? What’s the point of being surrounded by things you don’t use all the time? So, the question now is: Can I get as close to my list in real life?

I don’t know.

But here’s a current list of what I’d take:

  • Backpack
  • Camera and one lens (+ a couple of accessories)
  • iPad with mouse & Apple Pencil
  • Earphones
  • Ear plugs
  • Water bottle

  • Good shoes/hiking shoes (not boots).
  • Merino wool and technical outdoor clothing.

Lived in central Japan since 2001 and spend free days exploring.
